On January 2, the resident doctors of Maharashtra went on strike. The creation of new jobs for senior residents, the payment of COVID service arrears, and DA in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission are only a few of the requests that the resident doctors claimed the government had not met with. The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), the state's umbrella organisation for resident physicians, has stated that residents will continue be a part of emergency services. This statement was made by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) section of MARD. After resident physicians at Mumbai's civic hospitals threatened to skip work beginning January 2, their colleagues at the state's government-run medical colleges made the same announcement.
