If you could do one thing with excellence, what would it be? Among the many possibilities, did the best answer make your list? You might think of worship as one small and insignificant part of your life. But God wants more than that, for His sake and yours. You were made to worship. When you do, you fulfill your chief calling and experience the deepest possible joy.

While God honoring and joy-giving worship must be heartfelt, worshiping God isn’t a matter of following your heart. Our hearts are deceitful. We need a better guide. For generations, the psalms have helped believers praise the Lord. The concluding psalms especially can inform our minds, warm our hearts, and stir us to the greatest calling we can undertake. They can train us to say—and truly mean—“it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting” (Ps. 147:1).
