How to bypass Audi or VW soft rev limiter

First of all this might be risky. To follow this procedure you do so at own risk. I didn't experience any problems so far and I'm also not going to try and see what will happen if you put the vehicle in reverse by mistake while revs are high.

I'm demonstrating this in my 2014 Audi SQ5 3.0 V6 TDi

The gear lever must just disengage from the park position, so it's still far before it reaches the reverse engage position. You will see on the dash as you just disengage from park it will quickly show "R" for reverse, but because you don't physically put it in reverse the "R" will disappear and it will not show any indication of which gear it is in.

By holding the gear lever firmly in that position, the vehicle can then rev up past the soft rev limiter.

Sounds just like it should sound... a powerful beast.
