Growing Banana Plants Outside In North Scotland From Seed

Описание к видео Growing Banana Plants Outside In North Scotland From Seed

In this video I give an early autumn tour of my banana plants. Despite being grown from seed in the cool temperatures of a Scottish summer they have grown surprisingly well over their first growing season. In this video I talk about each plant individually explaining when it was germinated and how it has been growing over the summer. Most of my banana plants are Musa sikkimensis, I have five of these grown from the same batch of seed, however they all look different to each other and they appear to have a lot of genetic variation between the different banana plants. I have Four Ensete Ventricosum banana plants, the three grown from seed are the green variety and the other is Ensete ventricosum 'Maurelii' which is a red variety that I bought as a young plant. My last two banana plants are my Musa basjoo bananas, these are the hardiest of the lot and these were also bought as young plants in spring.
