It's early 2005, I'm 16 years of age and I have only been a Tears For Fears fan for a year and I discover not only are they re-united with a new album and UK tour on the horizon (I bought tickets to the Dublin Show they talk about here and had a blast that April) but they are making an appearance on the pre-recorded Kelly Show on a wet and Wednesday night in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

I live in rural County Tyrone and I discover this by checking on a Tears For Fears fans website that day in school and I freak out with excitement. My cousin worked for the "Farm Week" newspaper and could get free tickets to the Kelly Show taping. So a quick phonecall to my mum and my cousin and I'm getting changed after school and heading straight down to Belfast. I cannot describe my excitement as I am about to sit in the audience and see my heroes live in person for the first time. At this point I was regularly watching their music videos and first time I heard the song "Everybody Wants to rule the world" I knew this band was special and when I heard "Shout" I knew this was my band.

The taping started and the first couple of guests Joe Pasquale and Magenta Devine came on and as their interviews were finishing, my cousin nudged me in the ribs and I looked over to the instrument set and out walked Curt and Roland picking up the instruments. To say I was starstruck and in a trance is putting it mildly! lol finally I was seeing my heroes in person. I would loved to have asked the production team before or after the taping if I could meet them for a picture and autograph but sadly this thought never came to me and I don't know if it would have been possible, the guys were probably long gone by the time the taping finished. Gem played the show out with her hit single "They".

I went to see Tears For Fears in Vicar St that April and was practically at the front of the stage even closer to them this time lol I had a blast and remember Roland smiling directly at me during one number where he was at the keyboard.

It's 2020 and I go to the see the band again only this time at the 3arena in Dublin and the crowd is like five times bigger than the crowd at Vicar Street, this is a good 5,000. It took me back to the time I seen them first fifteen years earlier and I realised this appearance on the Kelly Show wasn't on Youtube or anywhere online! They had done a similar performances to this on Des and Mel so I wondered if I could find the Kelly performance, luckily a good friend of mine who I had also got into TFF at this time videotaped the show and kept the tape after fifteen years he still had it.
