[NES] Super Mario Bros. 3 - "Total Control TAS + inputs" by Lord Tom

Описание к видео [NES] Super Mario Bros. 3 - "Total Control TAS + inputs" by Lord Tom

This is an utterly amazing Tool-Assisted Speedrun (TAS) by Lord Tom showcasing some very /exotic/ game manipulations of Super Mario Brothers 3.

These seemingly impossible effects are achieved by using in-game glitches combined with thousands of rapid, frame-perfect controller inputs (on multiple controllers, simultaneously) to essentially inject and execute arbitrary machine code, thereby completely changing the game in more ways than you could possibly imagine...

Mario even acquires a few new power-ups and abilities in this run, none of which have ever been seen in any Mario game to date!

MARIO. ASSUMES. TOTAL. CONTROL.

This video encode shows the author's annotations as well as the controller inputs required to achieve these effects. Note that these results are entirely possible on an unmodified NES and SMB3 cartridge! ...but... not by a human, of course... ;)

I originally saw this TAS on Games Done Quick, but wanted to provide something that shows a little bit more about what is happening behind the scenes. Here is the original (GDQ) broadcast which starts around 7 minutes:    • TASBot plays Super Mario Bros. 3 by L...

(If there is enough public interest, I can provide FCEUX save state files which allow you to play around with some of the features of this TAS run at specific points).
