NZ Rail Cab View Real Time: Whatakao to Kereone

By popular request, real-time cab footage with audio*, from a freight train in New Zealand, as it travels from Whatakao to Kereone, en-route to Hamilton. In this video, we travel through the 8.879km long Kaimai Tunnel, the longest railway tunnel in New Zealand.

Unfortunately due to GoPro overheating, the footage ends shortly after Kereone, ending this mini-series prematurely.

Audio will be muted during radio calls and Locomotive Engineer signal calls, to protect the privacy of all involved.

Footage captured by GoPro mounted on the 2nd Person's side, out of the driver's line of sight, and not touched until the train was stationary and brakes were applied.
