Real Doctor Getting COVID-19 Vaccine — This Is How I Feel. Pfizer and Moderna began its vaccine distribution across the U.S. this week as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that initial supplies of the COVID-19 vaccine be allocated to healthcare personnel and long-term care facility residents. We've seen NBC News medical contributor Dr. Vin Gupta and his colleague Dr. Eliot Fagley receive their COVID-19 vaccines live on-air and CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Some patients have reported COVID vaccine reactions. CDC is recommending that if you have a history of severe allergy or anaphylaxis to any component of the Covid-19 vaccine, you should not get vaccinated. As well as pregnant women, lactating women, and children. There has been a lot of political controversy surrounding the Pfizer-BioNTech and Modnera COVID-19 vaccine. Americans need to feel comfortable with the notion that this is a safe and effective vaccine that will get the coronavirus pandemic under control. So why should you get vaccinated against COVID-19? COVID-19 mRNA vaccines give instructions for our cells to make a harmless piece of what is called the "spike protein" which is found on the surface of the virus that causes COVID-19. There are a lot of benefits to getting a COVID-19 vaccine. It's important to trust that vaccination will be an important tool to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
