Singer withdrew from giving Norway's votes at Eurovision in protest at Israel's participation

Norwegian-Italian singer Alessandra Mele announced her withdrawal from giving out Norway's votes during the Eurovision final in protest at Israel's participation.

In a video posted on her social media account, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to announce Norway's votes on national TV but stated that she believes Eurovision's motto, "United by Music", is just empty words.

Alessandra added: "There's a genocide going on. I'm asking you all to please open up your eyes and open up your hearts. Let love lead you to the truth. It's right in front of you." She concluded by saying: "Free Palestine."
