Indigenous youth leaders in Suriname

The Strengthening the Capacities of Indigenous Organizations in the Amazon - SCIOA project organized a training workshop in August 2021, in which indigenous youths from three organizations in Suriname (OSIP, KLIM and VIDS) developed their communication skills to contribute to raising the voices of indigenous organizations. During the sessions, youths learned how to make videos, how to tell stories and how to publish them in virtual channels to make visible the challenges indigenous peoples face in Suriname.

After the workshop, youth stay in touch through social media groups and are developing their own content to share with the world. The training was funded by USAID Peru and organized with VIDS’ support.
