Does this verse immediately remind you of similar text somewhere in the gospels? If you said yes, I hope it was because it reminded you of Jesus’ parable of “The Good Samaritan” in the gospels.

It is interesting to note this because it reflects how the early Christians were striving to be like Christ: to live as much according to the standards set forth by Christ Jesus while He lived here on earth.

In this parable of the Good Samaritan, a Samaritan goes out of his way to help out a Jew despite the sociocultural tensions that existed between those groups then.
The highlighted verse in our exploration here is a similar statement the Samaritan makes when he leaves the sick and robbed jew into the care of a health personnel.

Why I highlight this parallel here is this: the more we allow God to use us in the way He made us to be - a sanctified and righteous and holy nation as Apostle Peter puts it - our lives become the very stories are penned down in the Bible as we have it. The beautiful thing that happens here is that we begin to conform so well to Christ’s character and this is affirmed by His teachings finding their right expressions in/through our lives!

This is all to encourage us to continue seeking and submitting to Christ’s will as we seek and yearn to be conformed to the image of our creator.

Challenge:
1. Think about why it is even important in the first place to desire to be conformed to Christ’s character! What is the benefit to you and those around you - friends, family, church, workplace relations, country, world?
2. In what areas of your life can you yield more control over to God? Prayerfully explore and submit this to God in Christ Jesus! 🙏🏿

May the grace of Christ ever dwell with us!
