Plyometric, balance and strengthening/stability exercises.

-Knees have to be stable and not cave inwards.

-The quads and most importantly the vastus medialis obliques (VMO), are the muscles that run along the front and side of the leg and attach to the knee.

-These are super important for keeping the knee straight and absorbing shock from running and other weight-bearing activities. A weakness here will lead to an unstable knee and increased pressure on the knee joint.

-When it comes to exercises to strengthen knees, working the quads and VMO are key***

-Single-leg exercises helps you strengthen your weak leg so you can move effortlessly around the pitch. Plus, it helps prevent injury from muscle weakness or imbalances that can occur from repeatedly performing a single-side dominant skill, like kicking and passing.

-Plyometric and balance training have been shown to decrease deviation from the centre in landing mechanics. A quick reflex response and neuromuscular control develops through acceleration and deceleration training. Just like improvements in dribbling skill transfer to games, so does practiced movement. The more efficiently you can move, and the more consistently you can do it, you reduce the chance of injury.
