Xorg needs a few tweaks for connecting to Microsoft remote desktop client.

If you connect to xrdp on Debian via Windows RDC, you'll be presented with Xorg session login screen after which xrdp-sesman will display it's log throwing an error.

Even if you manage to bypass that, you'll end up with black screen appearing for a moment and then disappearing, ending the session, taking you back to RDC interface.

Allowed users in X11 is set to console by default and user is not added to ssl-cert group by default in Debian 12.

Moreover, you need to specify the desktop session you want to execute in xsession and xinitrc files.

Virtual machines in Hyper-V can't access most of local resources by default so it becomes pretty uneasy to navigate between windows and virtual machine sessions when clipboard sharing is not available or drives are not mounted in virtual machine. Audio isn't available either.

XRDP is a much better option, because windows remote desktop client allows clipboard, drive, printer sharing as well as remote audio support.

sudo apt install xrdp ufw -y
sudo ufw enable
sudo ufw allow tcp/3389
echo "exec 'desktop-session'" to ~/.xsession
echo "exec 'desktop-session'" to ~/.xinitrc
sudo adduser xrdp ssl-cert
sudo nano /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config
allowed users=console to allowed users=anybody
sudo systemctl restart xrdp xrdp-sesman
