We took our Land Rover Discovery 3 over various gravel mountain passes in the Italian Western Alps including the Ligurian border trail road.
The trails and mountain passes can be found in the Denzel Alpenführer guide book. It is in German language only available (as far as we know.). We have no affiliation. If you know the name of the mountain pass, you can also find the track in the internet with a bit of research. The opening days change on some passes from year to year so it is important to do some research before going there or you will find yourself at the entrance on a no-motor-vehicle day. There are way more gravel passes than someone would think.
