Platax Batfish

Platax Batfish consist of 5 species which include the Humpback batfish, Golden Spadefish, Orbicular Batfish, Longfin Batfish and the Dusky Batfish. They are found in the Indian ocean, Red Sea and coast of Australia. There are reports from India that they are in Gulf of Mannar and off the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The Dusky batfish can be found on the coast of Africa to Northern Australia and the South China Sea.
They are flat, resembling a disc or boomerang or bat because of their black and yellow wing like fins.
The Platax are omnivores eating algae, coral, anemones, plankton, crustaceans, jellyfish and more.
