Johnny Griffin: The Jazz Life (1981 High Quality 60FPS Laserdisc Full Live Video Concert)

This is "The Jazz Life: Johnny Griffin" (J0068DL) featuring the late, great hard bop pioneer, Johnny Griffin, and a great supporting band with Ronny Mathews on piano, Kenny Washington on drums, and Ray Drummond on bass.

While this concert may have taken place long after the commercial flame of hard bop had died off, Johnny Griffin's Quartet shows the flame still burns bright in their hearts...and their fingers! This is an excellent example of nearly unmatched, top notch jazz. As a result, we can forgive Johnny for some of his awkward monologue.
