Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif addressed participants from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a National Workshop, underscoring the spirit of national unity and cooperative federalism reflected in the 2010 National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

The Prime Minister recalled that all four provinces reached a consensus with goodwill, agreeing to allocate one percent of gross divisible resources to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa prior to provincial distribution, specifically to strengthen capacity building against terrorism. By 2016, he noted, this allocation amounted to approximately PKR 800 billion, voluntarily contributed by all provinces to support KP in confronting the challenges of terrorism.

He further stated that in the same NFC Award, Balochistan received a 100 percent increase in line with its needs. He emphasized that Punjab reduced its own share to facilitate Balochistan’s development, demonstrating solidarity and shared responsibility.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed that Pakistan’s progress cannot be defined by the development of one province alone. True national development, he said, is only possible when all four provinces advance together as equal partners in the country’s journey toward prosperity.
