Описание к видео AFRICAN HEALTH INNOVATION CENTRE: Getting the gig economy back on track in the midst of a pandemic.

The world is in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic. As World Health Organization and partners work together on the response tracking the pandemic, advising on critical interventions, and distributing vital medical supplies to those in need, they have also been able to develop and deploy safe and effective vaccines. Vaccines save millions of lives each year. Vaccines work by training and preparing the body’s natural defenses so that the immune system can recognize and fight off the viruses and bacteria they target. According to the World Health Organization, the body is exposed to those disease-causing germs after vaccination, making the body better prepared to destroy them and helping prevent illness.

As part of the COVAX initiative, Ghana was the first African country to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, yet some of the populace are skeptical about being vaccinated. Due to history, culture, social media, and more, many Ghanaians are fearful of the vaccine and are undecided about whether they will receive it. One sure way of allaying fears, myths, and controversies surrounding these vaccines is to normalize the conversation by sharing the stories of those who have been vaccinated successfully.

In this video, Justice Allotey, a freelancer and activist opens up about his vaccination experience, why he did it, and urges all to get vaccinated. Watch, share, #GetVaccinated, and enjoy!
