Italy Vlog 2022

When I found out we were going to Italy, I knew that I wanted to document our experience in any way I could. I have this little digital camera that I received in 2013 for my birthday. I've just always had it with me wherever I went. I figured it would be the perfect little camera to help me capture our trip. Going into it, I thought that I would just take some videos here and there so we could all look back on them for as long as I had my camera. I ended up using it a lot more than I thought I would throughout our trip, though there are still large chunks of I forgot to film or take photos of. Our trip was long and it's hard to remember to film when you're so caught up in the moment, mesmerized by one of the most magical places on Earth. There are clips of my sister encouraging me to compile the videos and post them on YouTube for everyone to see. At the time I didn't really see that as a possibility. I didn't know how to edit or where I would ever begin with the content I had. A few months into college, I learned how to use Adobe Premiere and I really enjoyed editing. I was good at it and it was fun for me to have to be precise about each individual cut and organize and compile, etc. As soon as I learned how to use Adobe, I knew that I wanted to create a compilation of everything I was able to capture.
For months I had no motivation to get started. I didn't have any ideas of how I wanted it to look and feel. I didn't feel like taking the time to figure it out either. Once I was on winter break however, I had been missing creating and editing, so I decided to take a look at all the videos I had. This quickly became the only thing that I wanted to focus on. I just wanted to put all of myself into this project. I also realized very early on that I wasn't just doing this for myself but for my family as well. I wanted to create a beautiful representation of the memories we made, the only way I really know how. Of course this is a project that I want everyone to be able to see but it was truly created for my grandma and grandpa.
This trip changed me in so many ways that I can't even begin to explain. It is truly one of the greatest gifts anyone has ever given me. Traveling is one of my favorite things in the world but getting to travel and see the world with the people I love most makes it something else entirely.
