1. Body Size and Lifespan:
Molly fish will generally reach about 4 inches (10 cm) in length. These fish generally have a lifespan of 3 to 5 years.
2. SUITABLE TANK SIZE
For Short-finned mollies you should consider at least a ten-gallons aquarium for their housing.
3. WATER QUALITY
Recommended water temperature should be in between 70°F – 82°F (21°C – 28°C). These fish prefer hard water (15-30 dGH) and pH level 7.5 – 8.5 . These fishes are very touchy to adjustments in water parameters, To avoid unneeded stress, it is incredibly advocated to keep water temperature as stable as possible .
4. DIET AND FEEDING
Mollies are omnivorous fish. They like to eat algae and plants, so in order to keep their diet as natural as possible. You should feed them high-quality flake food and green vegetables like zucchini, cucumber and peas. Live or frozen food is also great for mollies though, as far as live food, they prefer bloodworms, black worms, daphnia and brine shrimp.
You can feed your mollies 2 to 3 times in a day and also strive to feed them vegetables at least once per week.
5. FILTERATION
Always need a good filteration for your molly tank. Maximum fish keepers will suggested you for a cannister filter, but as in step with my opinion they are little bit costly when it comes to keeping Mollies. I advise you for a hangon the back filter, it’s will not disrupt the water floor as much as most other filter and also within your budget.
6. Tankmates
Mollies are a peaceful fish. They happily live in groups and any other peaceful community fish. They lives with Guppies, Danios, Tetras, other Mollies, Swordtails, Gouramis, Platies, Cherry barbs and even female Betta fish.
7. Male and Female Mollies
Female mollies are generally longer and larger than males. Male mollies have modified dorsal fins than females. The female has a rounded anal fin and the male's is pointed.
