JetZero is a startup that plans to introduce a new type of airliner called the Z-5, which is based on a blended wing body design. This type of aircraft uses a wide, flat fuselage and two wide wings without a clear dividing line separating the wing from the body. The advantages of this design include increased lift, aerodynamic stability, reduced noise levels both in the cabin and on the ground, and more space for cargo and passengers. Additionally, the Z-5 can use extra storage space in the wing for transporting hydrogen tanks, which is particularly relevant for hydrogen-powered airliners.


However, the blended wing body design also has some limitations, including a wider wingspan than typical airliners, which may limit the number of compartments in airports where they can fit unless they use folding wings. JetZero claims that their blended wing body airliner is 50% more efficient, uses half the fuel, and produces half the carbon dioxide compared to a tube-and-wing airliner. The Z-5 is designed to carry at least 250 passengers and has a range of over 9260 km. It will have a width of almost 200 feet (61 m) and can operate at any airport that can serve the Airbus A330.
