DCS World - MiG-21 vs F-104 - Indo-Pakistani Conflict 1971

Описание к видео DCS World - MiG-21 vs F-104 - Indo-Pakistani Conflict 1971

During the 1971 War, Pakistani Air Force tried to maintain the pressure on their Indian counterparts by continuously flying missions against air bases close to the border between two countries. One of the aircraft they used for these missions was the F-104 Starfighter. The model had the advantage of speed however, its ground attack capabilities were limited. That's why often Pakistani Starfighters were used for strafing only.
On 13 December 1971, one such mission was flown by a pair of F-104s against a heavily defended Indian air base Jamnagar. The flight leader was an experienced Wg Cdr Mervyn Middlecoat, one of the first Pakistani F-104 pilots. Their low lever approach above the sea was spotted by an observation post which gave Indian MiG-21s enough time to launch a CAP mission. Flt Lt Bharat Bushan Soni was one of the Indian pilots who would soon clash with the Pakistanis.
