I need a new engine. | Yamaha XJ6N Repair Ep. 4 | KiaraShifts

After having finished all repairs we thought necessary, it was finally time to test ride my Yamaha XJ6N! In this video I took it for a ride and was unpleasantly surprised with a loud rattling noise whenever I let go of the accelerator in second gear. Various discussions, taking out the oil pan and going back and forth to a specialist, I finally decided that the best and safest solution would be to replace the engine.

To answer the question of why I didn't replace the engine in the first place: we thoroughly checked all broken parts as well as the functionality of the gearbox before starting the repairs. We also didn't find any metal parts or even just glitter that would make internal damage certain. It seemed entirely possible to fix the bike. We acted on the knowledge we had and were unpleasantly surprised at this discovery that could only be made during a real test ride. I view this backlash as an opportunity to learn more about bikes and a start to an interesting winter project!
