Knitting Machine - checking your needles to avoid knitting problems

Knitting machine needles are very important for creating a good stitch

Currently most knitting machine needles are cheap and easy to obtain. Year 2021 Whilst they are, do a needle check and purchase replacements.

Needles pricing can be as low as $13 for 50 needles for a standard gauge machine. Singer or Brother. You can purchase off Ebay and Aliexpress websites.

The video is of a Brother KH930 electronic machine which was mispatterning. There could be a number of reasons for this. The owner had changed the timing belt and suspected the electronics were failing.

I stripped the machine down to find lots of fibre from yarns, too much oil, a sponge bar that needed to be replaced and worn butts on the needles.

Because this isn't the 1st time seeing worn needle butts, I decided to do this short video for new knitters, to make people aware of what to look out for.

Many people are purchasing used machines which have been in storage for a while. Take the time to check over the machine and service it, so that you don't have too many issues when you start knitting.

Do not put too much oil on your Brother (Empisal) knitting machine needle bed.

Silver Reed (Singer) knitting machines do need oil on the beds for the carriage to move easily.

On both machines, the carriages do need to be oiled regularly to ensure all the mechanisms move freely.
