Why Pregnancy Scans Matter for Baby Health?

Many expecting parents ask about checking their baby's health through scans. The third-month scan, known as the Nuchal Translucency (NT) scan, is important as it measures fluid at the back of the baby's neck to indicate potential abnormalities. 🩺

The Double Marker blood test and Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) are also key tests that help detect major chromosomal disorders, such as Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, and Patau syndrome. 🤰

While these tests do not detect all chromosomal issues, they effectively identify these three major conditions.

Both the ACOG and SMFM recommend these tests for all expectant mothers.

However, due to cost considerations, we don't advise them for everyone. We specifically recommend these tests for those with an intermediate risk from combined screening results, individuals aged 37 or older, or women who have had a previous pregnancy affected by chromosomal abnormalities. 🌟

In my opinion, it is beneficial for certain groups to undergo these tests for a smoother, worry-free pregnancy journey. 😊
