And, as I mentioned in the description for the previous video, here is the Oinkologne Team—part of the purpose of this session is to see how well this team stands up to the increase in firepower Restricted Pokémon bring into the fold in Regulation G. I hadn’t done any battles with this team since February 2024, before Regolatuon G went underway. I suspected my team would not stand up well to the onslaught, and I know I’d have to make some changes. Hence, mid-session, you might see different moves, hold items, Tera types, and such. This is my adapting this team to stand up under Regulation G without changing any Pokémon on it.

Of course, not all of my opponents choose to use Restricted Pokémon. Even if these are just Casual Battles, it’s understood that you can choose not to use them if you don’t want to, and as a result, some battles in this session will have them, and some won’t.

Type: Single Battle
Opponent: オーイ (Ooi)
Battle Court: Naranja Academy/Uva Academy
Music: Area Zero Pokémon 2
My Pokémon: Alexandria (Ampharos), Shelby (Magcargo), Wilbur (Oinkologne) (Male)
Opponent’s Pokémon: チワッス (Quaquaval), ヴィトン (Oinkologne) (Male), バンクシー (Grafaiai)

Not only is my opponent’s team a nontraditional one, in which none of the Pokémon here can be found in the top 75 (though Bellibolt and Tinkaton were prior), this is also a themed team: it’s made entirely out of Generation IX Pokémon, without any Legendary Pokémon or Paradox Pokémon.

And this is also the only time I have ever encountered another user of Oinkologne, and a male one in particular (female Oinkologne have different stats, moves, and Abilities). We had wildly different strategies, however. Though I usually feel compelled if the opponent has at least one Pokémon in common with mine, I usually don’t act on those compulsions; I pick what Pokémon I feel would be best suited for the battle. Maybe it was fatigue from the summer heat. Air conditioning is expensive!

Ultimately, I have no idea if my Oinkologne is better than theirs, and they probably don’t know either. And that’s because in a balanced team, no one Pokémon would define an entire battle. The other Pokémon you bring would be important too, and while the presence of one Pokémon over another can determine a battle, this is a 3-on-3, not a 1-on-1. The Oinkologne comparisons ended the moment they decided to switch out their Oinkologne for their Grafaiai and used a Prankster boosted Encore on mine. That Grafaiai then laid various conditions on my Pokémon that put me at quite the disadvantage.

All of my opponent’s Pokémon were nicknamed, or at least the three sent out in this battle. For Quaquaval, チワッス (Chiwassu) may be a portmanteau of チーヴァス (Chivas), the name of several soccer teams in Spanish-speaking areas; and クワッス (Kuwassu), Quaxly's Japanese name. Oinkologne’s nickname of ヴィトン (Viton) seems to reference “Louis Vuitton” (as the luxury brand includes perfumes and cologne) and “ton,” Japanese for “pig.” Grafaiai, whose nickname is バンクシー (Bankushii), is named after Banksy, the famous graffiti artist.
