St David's Day Concert (Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society)

For St. David’s Day 2021 Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society present a selection of four new arrangements of Welsh favourites:

Dafydd y Garreg Wen: arr. Ben Heneghan
Suo Gân: arr. Ian Lawson
Mae Hen Wlad fy Nhadau: arr. Ben Heneghan

Dewi Cymru Sant:

Perhaps more of a ‘reworking’ than a conventional arrangement of this well-known Welsh hymn.

While the outer two verses are relatively simple re-harmonisations of the unadorned melody the middle two verses are more like variations on a theme. The second verse is in the form of a chorale prelude, while the third verse is harmonised in a more contemporary close harmony style.
