Toss a coin to decide who takes the first turn.
The ball must be start its revolution around the outside of the board so that it hits the skittles upon its return towards the player.

Players take turns swinging the ball around the pole with the objective of knocking over as many skittles as possible. Each player gets three throws per turn, so if they knock over all 9 pins in first or second throw, they can reset them and throw again. The maximum number of points per turn is therefore 27.
Note- the ball is only allowed to go around the pole once for each throw and it must be caught as it returns!

Usually, the aim is to be the first player to reach a total of 101 points. If you bust, you return to 92 and take another turn later. If a cribbage board is being used to score, the game would be played to 61 (if you bust, you return to 52).
