Now.. from YouTube... to celebrate the anniversary of a live album and a recording session...here comes Betamax Blocker with a giant gala video!

Welcome back Beach Boys fans! On August 1, 1964, The Beach Boys recorded two shows at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium that would form the basis of their first live album.

While there were quite a few changes made between recorded those shows and releasing the final LP (which also included performances from a December 1963 concert at the same venue), Concert proved to be a big success and became the first live album ever to reach #1 on the charts.

Today we take an extra-long 60th anniversary deep dive into the songs on the album, many of which were unique to this record at the time. We also look at the reissues from Capitol and Pickwick, bonus tracks used on other sets, and the bonus photo collages and tour program.

This giant video to celebrate the anniversary of the recording of the primary source of the original LP will be followed up by an analysis of the 2014 digital companion set Live in Sacramento- 1964.

What are your thoughts on the first live album from America's band?
