Roost Smart Battery could turn your smoke alarms high-tech.

It’s a new way to keep tabs on your smoke alarm.

Developers of the Roost say on their crowdfunding page that their Wi-Fi battery will give you peace of mind.

No need to buy any new, high-tech appliances. The Roost Smart Battery can simply retrofit into your existing smoke alarms.

Creators say it’s simple to set-up, install and use. All users have to do is download the Roost app, connect the smart 9-volt battery to their Wi-Fi, and stick it in the alarm.

Once the new battery is installed, the mobile app will integrate with your existing smoke alarms.

If you equip all of your detectors with the smart battery, the app will keep track of them separately.

The Roost app will then provide you with notifications—like if your smoke alarm activates whether you’re at home or away.

You can also choose to be notified when the battery is running low before that annoying chirping wakes you up in the middle of the night.

Creators say the battery will last for about 5 years.

Early backers can purchase one for around $35.
