An eSeminar on food authentication analysis, from the UK's National Measurement Laboratory hosted at LGC.

This eSeminar, jointly authored by Simon Kelly (IAEA) and Philip Dunn (LGC), will introduce the viewer to the application of isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) for use with food authenticity, and quality testing. Detail of both the theory and application of the technique will be provided, along with the scope and limitations. The importance of the availability of robust isotope ratio databases is emphasised, along with guidance and best practice for use of the technique in the analysis of food authenticity. In addition to the information provided by the eSeminar, links to sources of additional information are provided.

This e-seminar is intended for individuals currently working within the food authenticity testing arena, the food industry and those involved with the UK official control system. The production of this e-seminar was co-funded by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Defra, the Food Standards Agency, Food Standards Scotland and the Department for Science Innovation and Technology via the Government Chemist, under the Joint Knowledge Transfer Framework for Food Standards and Food Safety Analysis
