The giant squid, known as one of the world's largest invertebrates, was found alive at the Inome fishing port in Inome-cho, Izumo. According to the aquarium Aquas (Hamada City, Gotsu City), which has a body length of 167 cm and a weight of 170 kg, it is the first time that the aquarium has confirmed a living giant squid.
It was found around noon on January 26, 2021. Eiji Yoshida (63), a fisherman who owns a boat at the fishing port when he was informed that there was a big squid at the entrance of the fishing port, pulled it into the port by boat and moored it on the quay with a rope.
According to Aquas, there was no longest "tactile arm" among the arms at the time of discovery, but the total length of the remaining arms is 410 cm.
