Flying in a legendary Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun (Typhoon) through the Swiss Alps. This aircraft was built in 1938, so it is definitely the oldest aircraft I have ever flown with! I was super excited :) It doesn't get any better than this. That was one of the most spectacular flights of my life. It was also definitely the oldest aircraft I have ever flown in. We took off from Lausanne in Switzerland, close to the Lake Geneva. We landed safely back in Lausanne after flying through the spectacular Swiss Alps. The flight lasted exactly one hour!

Elly Beinhorn made several very impressive records with the Messerschmitt Bf 108. She even named the aircraft Taifun (Typhoon).

The take-off point for the spectacular record flight was in Damascus, Asia (Near East). On 6 August 1936, she took off at two in the morning. By sunrise she had reached Africa Cairo, where she made a stopover. From Cairo she flew across the Mediterranean to Athens. As she was about to set off from there for Berlin, a stone on the tarmac tore away her rudder. The local Lufthansa technicians repaired the damage as quickly as possible and Beinhorn was even able to continue her flight as planned. After 3750 kilometres, she landed safely in Berlin Tempelhof that evening.
