MAGNIFICENT ITALIAN FIGHTER PILOT SKILLS F-2000A IN MORDOR-LIKE CONDITIONS • AERONAUTICA MILITARE

A wonderful demo from Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) with their Eurofighter F-2000A Typhoon at RAF Fairford, the Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 demonstrating a different side to the Typhoon. The F-2000A is a type of Eurofighter Typhoon, most countries operating the Eurofighter can modify the specs and give it their own name for the aircraft. The RAF call it the Typhoon FGR4 and have toned down the max speed to Mach 1.8 and have their own BAe Systems software for example.

The Reparto Sperimentale Volo (RSV), which is the Italian Air Force Flight Test Wing, the 311 Gruppo who get the honour to take part in displaying at airshows. The RSV are based at Pratica di Mare Air Base.

Back at Ted HQ, the RAF Typhoon Display Team choose their pilots from their OCU (Operational Conversion Unit) which is 29 Squadron, RAF Coningsby. The Italian Air Force Typhoon Display pilots are selected from the equivalent of the RAF's 41 Test and Evaluation Squadron, which is the Reparto Sperimentale Volo (RSV). An interesting difference in the selection category.
