The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo ($300,249 in Canada, $230,115 in the US) is up against its older and much cheaper ancestor, the 2008 Maserati GranTurismo ($35,000 in Canada, $26,016 USD converted). The new model may have lost the growling Ferrari V8 of yesteryear, but it has been replaced by a much faster and more powerful twin-turbo V6 ‘Nettuno’ engine.

Over 100 horsepower separates these two GranTurismos, and the new model has lots of new tech and engineering to bring it into modern day. But does the new GranTurismo succeed as a worthy successor to its roaring V8 progenitor and live up to the hefty price tag? And is the older Maserati worth the much depreciated value?
