Описание к видео Using ILog on the Ace Pro 2 - Quick Walk to Test colour and Contrast

I really like the Ace Pro 2 a lot because it's a camera that always gets me a result that I can use. Very little footage has to be thrown away from it. On my recent Spanish trip, very few clips not used and I took 1600!! I only took clips out if I thought that they weren't useful to see in the video because they were just too boring!!

Anyway, one thing that Action 5 people often say is that it's not a good camera because it's only 8 bit, so not much can be done in post.

So I tested out the I Log facility on the Ace Pro 2 to try this out and see exactly what I got from 8 bit footage. I took shots with plenty of contrast and literally just shot anything, not taking particular care with the camera set to 'auto'. I exposed at -0.7EV in order to preserve highlights and try to take advantage of I Log.

What I noticed is that you lose some of the bells and whistles on the camera, like the 'zoom' function, but I actually like the colour that you get in this mode. It looks quite natural to me in my little video on the whole.

In post, I used the Insta360 LUT and then adjusted gamma if the overall look of the shot seemed too dark to me. The nice thing about adjusting gamma is that it basically moves the middle area of brightness up and down so that the highlights remain pretty untouched as well as the lows. I adjusted the brightness of the picture in my software first by using 'automatic gain' if it needed it and then adjust the look of the average brightness with the gamma.

I quite like the I Log after trying it. It certainly is very flat out of the camera but there is a lot that you can do with it in difficult conditions. If you want to use the zoom, then 'normal' mode is there anyway.

Now it's just a question of what YouTube compression might do to it!!
