When Danny (played by Jet Li) was 4 years old, he was taken by Bart (played by Bob Hoskins), a mob boss who runs illegal underground fight clubs. But Bart told Danny he was just an orphan abandoned on the streets. From that point on, Danny was completely cut off from the world. Bart put a collar on him and kept him in a mysterious room under his office, where Danny was trained brutally. By the time Danny turned 30, he still had the mind of a child and only knew his master, Bart. He was trained to be a killing machine, attacking and killing without hesitation whenever Bart gave the order.
