I just played the Seoul International Blues Festival and Shun Kikuta from Tokyo was on the bill as well. He's a fine player whose first blues gig was with Louis Meyers, he went on to play with Johnny Littlejohn, JW Williams among many others. His longest and most high profile gig was with Koko Taylor for the last nine years before her passing in 2009. Shun talks about his time with Koko and how they played her signature rendition of "Wang Dang Doodle". It was a blast improvising on this song. Later in the video I contrast her recorded versions, the Chess version in 69 w Johnny Twist and Buddy Guy to her version on the Earthshaker LP on Alligator ft Sammy Lawhorn and Johnny B Moore.
