Tropical Storm 04W remains unnamed as it lurches towards the Philippine islands, and a landfall is now expected on Samar in the next 48 hours. The storm could intensify further and approach typhoon intensity on approach to landfall, and then possibly slink towards the western coast of Luzon later on in the forecast period.

To its east, an area of interest has continued to look decent, but with a severe lack of model support chances have been lowered to 40% for the next five days.

In the Eastern Pacific, Tropical Depression 02-E has formed according to the National Hurricane Center, and is likely to become the second tropical storm of the season. 02-E should not affect land.

West of 02-E is a tropical disturbance on its last legs, with chances down to 20% for formation.

In the southern Indian Ocean, an area of interest could develop in the next five days.
