Yet another build of the same board, and another great soldering job from ‪@gelcam100‬. I was curious about how the board felt and sounded with a plateless so I picked up a plateless kit and spare PCB from other local enthusiasts.

Despite being a plateless build, it still has a fairly rigid (for a plateless), somewhat reminiscent of a typical gasket mount in terms of give.

The sound is a little deeper than the crisp clackiness from the aluminum plate. While it is a touch quieter than the soldered alu build, it is still fairly loud and clean. There is a greater sense of purity in the sound, where you only just get the sound of the switch hitting the PCB, as well as the vibration of the PCB itself.

I've yet to decide if I like the F1 with this current plateless build or with the earlier aluminum plate. For sure though, soldered builds are the way to go for this board.

PS: I got a different mic just earlier today and after some testing, I find that it captures the room tone and reverb of the keyboard against the table as well. While the sound of the board is less isolated, it might be more indicative of how it sounds in person. I'll probably do a video with back-to-back switching between the plateless and aluminum plate builds to make it easier to compare between the two.
