Pace – With 94 acceleration and 91 sprint speed, Hernandez has the pace to break away from defenders without them catching him too easily. Even against some of the fastest and most popular defenders like Clauss he even managed to gain yardage on which is what you want from a player with Hernandez’s ability.

Dribbling – His dribbling category as a whole is great and the fact he has 93 agility, 85 balance and is 5’9 makes him very easy to turn with both on and off the ball. His ball control and dribbling were also very good for me and didn’t slow him down at all in game. In fact, it felt like when he went to take a first touch of the ball he actually accelerated into the touch which is can give you an extra few yards space away from the defender.

Shooting/attack positioning – Attack positioning is a key stat in Hernandez’s ability to score goals. He just presents so many chances through on goal with his run making ability that he could easily get a handful of goals each game. Inside the box on his right foot most of the time he will either challenge the goalkeeper or score. His shot power is also good enough to take the ball past the goalkeeper without them having enough reaction time to make a good save. His shooting from range was okay and he would be capable of scoring goals outside the box every now and again. He does also have the outside of the foot shot, he does not consistently use this but it is a nice addition to have regardless. His volleys were great for me and his penalties at 88 should put him up there as one of the top penalty takers in your team.

Heading ability – Although his is 5’9, Hernandez does make use of his great heading ability in game. He wins a surprising number of headers considering he is battling against central defenders quite a bit taller than him. This is mainly down to his 89 jumping which allows him to jump above defenders to win the header. He also has 93 heading accuracy and the power header trait so once he wins the header, he can put it on target with both power and accuracy.

Passing – His passing was good enough for someone in the striker position, he is usually the player receiving the more difficult passes. Short passes were accurate enough and he is able to make those the over the top chip through balls that are strong in FIFA 22. In fact, I was quite surprised with some of the chip through ball passes he made, in this type of pass specifically he definitely outplayed his average passing stats.

Defending – Hernandez does not offer much in the defensive department so I would not play him any deeper than the CAM position.

Physical – I have already mentioned his jumping as part of his heading ability. Stamina being 82 is not great but it’s not terrible either. With a player like Hernandez he will be making a lot of runs in the attacking half so he might need to be subbed off late into the game or in extra time depending on how you use him. His strength and aggression as stats are quite low both being in the 60s. However, Hernandez did feel quite aggressive for me in game when it came to fighting for the ball. His decent balance also helps his strength as he is able to remain on his feet whilst under pressure.

Skill moves and weak foot – Having 4 star skill moves in any attacking position is a positive as it allows you to perform a wide range of skill moves to beat your opponent in ways other than relying on just pace or dribbling alone. Unfortunately, Hernandez does only have a 3 star weak foot and it did impact him in game when it came to shooting. Some players who are a little more one footed tend to force the ball onto their stronger foot where possible. but with Hernandez if the chance falls to his left foot, most of the time he used it and as a result I missed a few important chances.
