Описание к видео Lie-flat AA business class Dallas-London (LHR) with pre-flight Flagship Dining 2017-03-22

(An annotated video) A chateaubriand dish from AA's compact Flagship Dining room in the DFW Terminal D Admirals Club is followed by more dining in a lie-flat business-class console across the pond to London. Flight maps and simulated cockpit view screens from the mid-cabin seating section of a B777 track the progress of the flight to its touchdown at London Heathrow.

Alternatively, this video might be called "Seeking a middle-seat window on a long flight through viewing the flight's progress on the flight map." :D

Landing at Heathrow

Up to 700 aircraft arrive every day at London's Heathrow Airport, the world's busiest international airport.
In order to land safely, air traffic controllers and pilots follow a set procedure.

The landing sequence generally starts with incoming flights being directed to one of four holding "stacks" on the outskirts of London.

The Mystery of Holding Patterns

As aircraft cannot stop dead in the sky like a car can at traffic lights, they have to fly a holding pattern, if the approach to land has to be delayed. This is normal when aircraft approach busy airports at peak times. Air Traffic Controllers will hold aircraft over navigation points until they can safely fit them into a safe landing approach pattern. The hold is like a race track pattern over the navigation fix.
