Wadea Ziada was killed along with six other people on April 27, when an Israeli airstrike targeted a café in central Gaza frequented by university students.

He appeared in Fobzu’s latest short film, sharing messages of hope and survival from students and academics in Gaza. Like many of his fellow students there, Wadea never had the chance to celebrate his academic success. His life—and his future—were taken, as Israel’s assault on education and life in Gaza continues.

The global academic community must speak out against the systematic destruction of education in Gaza, including the targeting of students and faculty, and take urgent action to end it.
