This modified Schilke B3 is really fun to play! The connections between the notes are so beautiful on this horn. Fun fact, the Schilke B3 was Bud Herseth's Bb trumpet of choice.

This horn was built in 1960, one of the first years Reynold Schilke made trumpets under his own name. Prior to starting his own brand, Schilke designed horns for Martin (the Martin Committee) and Holton (the Revelation), and you can see how his designs developed over time. He also helped Yamaha start their brass line. Truly a giant in the trumpet design world! This is actually the 4th trumpet he ever silver plated.

A previous owner had the silver plate stripped by Dr. Valve, and the valve-to-bell braces removed. The valves have probably been rebuilt, they look amazing and have perfect compression.

This trumpet has a seamed bell that plays wonderfully. We think it's a Schilke bell, but it's not marked. The leadpipe is an MK Drawing pipe (original pipe has some redrot and is included in the sale as well) that plays like a B3 pipe. The B3 is a large bore horn but it has good compactness, and the leadpipe plays a big role in that feeling.
