NYSERDA Offshore Wind Public Webinar, July 24, 2019

NYSERDA hosted two public webinars to discuss New York’s offshore wind announcement totaling 1,696 megawatts. In addition to updates from NYSERDA on the announcement and accompanying state initiatives, representatives from project developers Empire Wind (Equinor US Holdings, Inc.) and Sunrise Wind (Bay State Wind LLC, a joint venture of Ørsted A/S and Eversource Energy) – the two projects selected for contract negotiation – presented details of their project proposals, including proposed port facilities, economic and community benefits, and plans for future public engagement. Other topics covered included the 9,000-megawatt offshore wind mandate enacted by the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and updates on the offshore wind Technical Working Groups and the National Offshore Wind Research and Development Consortium.
