Soil science offers a wide variety of career options. The skills you gain by studying soils and environmental science are needed for everything from traditional agronomy and soil mapping to field and lab work on such topics as desertification, climate change, and hydrology. An understanding of soils is needed everywhere from rainforests to deserts and all around the world.
