Governor Ned Lamont today held a news conference in Wallingford to advocate for road safety in the wake of the recent deaths of two state employees who were killed by motor vehicles in separate incidents while on the job. They include Connecticut State Police Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier, who was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on May 30 while he was performing a traffic stop on I-84 in Southington, and Connecticut Department of Transportation employee Andrew DiDomenico, who was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on June 28 while he was performing routine maintenance to a greenway that is adjacent to an on and off-ramp connecting to I-91 in Wallingford.

“I am outraged by the recent deaths of two state employees who were doing their jobs on behalf of the people of Connecticut when they were struck and killed by motorists in what both appear to be acts of negligent and reckless driving,” Governor Lamont said. “State employees should not have to fear losing their lives while on the job because of the carelessness of drivers who are not showing any respect for those around them.”
