Описание к видео What is a Tirtha? What is a Kshetra? - Punyabhumi Sringeri Ep 1 | Lokashankara | Sanatana Dharma

This episode features Pravachan by Vidwan Shatavadhani Gannavaram Lalithadithya on the greatness of Sringeri and the true purpose of Punyakshetras and Tirthas.

Commencing this divine lecture series to learn about Punyabhumi Sringeri, the first lecture helps us understand the terms Punyabhumi, Tirtha and Kshetra.
Punyabhumi is one which brings purity and peace to the inhabitants. From ancient times, Bharatvarsha is revered as Punyabhumi given the numerous pious sages who have lived here. Tirtha is a holy site which extinguishes our sins and typically situated in the banks of a river. Kshetra is a holy site where the reigning deity grants Jnana to the seekers.

Sringeri is a unique holy place which is both Tirtha (given it is situated on banks of River Tunga) and Kshetra(given Goddess Sharada Devi is the reigning deity for Brahmavidya).
The purity of Sringeri traces back to Treta Yuga when the Rishis in Kashyapa Vamsa did intense Tapas here. It is indeed our fortune to know and visit such a holy place like Sringeri.
