No narration, this colony was started on the 14th of July as a salvage operation. The Queen was rejected by a larger swarm, and when left on a fence in a queen clip, other workers formed a tiny cluster that was then hived in this 5-frame nucleus hive. Most beekeepers would not have hived an apparently un-mated queen that failed to get the attention of the primary swarm she was removed from.

Fast forward to today, August 3rd, and all seems well as there is a steady flow of pollen coming in.
The colony numbers have been moderately reinforced through apparent drift of workers from a nearby hive.
This is a wait-and-see situation. What is most remarkable to me is their quick reinforcement and reduction of the already small entrance. They have shrouded it in propolis.
More than that, in just a few days, all top feeder-shim vents have also been completely sealed off.
Yellow Jackets are now putting pressure on this tiny colony, but that reduced entrance has resulted in better control over unwelcome guests.
Come again as I plan to open this hive for a complete colony evaluation on or after August 20th as they just may need supering by then.
