Battle of Britain March - National Concert Band 2021

DAY 5 🎺🥁 In today's performance, the National Concert Band tackle the iconic 'Battle of Britain; theme composed by Ron Goodwin.

But did you know that original score for the Battle of Britain film (1969) was written by William Walton and that only one segment of his composition, 'Battle in the Air' is used in the film? When you next watch the film, see if you can spot which music belongs to Walton.

This iconic film endeavoured to be an accurate account of the Battle of Britiain, when in the summer and autim of 1940 the RAF inflicted a strategic defeat on the Luftwaffe and so ensured the cancellation of Operation Sea Lion - Adolf Hitler's plan to invade Brtain. The film is notable for its spectacular flying sequences and is definitely worth a watch (again!) over the festive period.
